Lake Harvest Aquaculture (LHA)
LHA was established in 1997 to provide fresh fillets to the European market. Over the last 7 years, harvest volumes have the capacity to produce up to 9000T per annum, but now service the regional markets with fresh whole round, fresh and frozen gutted and fillets. LHA is an integrated fish farm with its own hatchery collecting 2.5 million eggs per week to be hatched into fingerlings for LHA cage operations as well as sales to group companies and third parties.
Cage operations are centered on 7 sites on Lake Kariba 2 kms offshore, each site housing 20 cages collectively keeping 2 000 tons of fish biomass at any one time. LHA focuses on fresh whole round for export to Zambia, fresh and frozen whole gutted fish and fillets for both the Zimbabwean and export markets.
Siavonga, Zambia
Kariba Harvest Limited (KHL)
Located in Zambia, near Siavonga on Lake Kariba, within 15 kilometres of Lake Harvest Aquaculture, this fish farm was established in 2012 and has grown to 2,000 tons harvest per annum, focused on fresh whole round for the Zambian market. The feed is sourced from a joint venture feed mill in Siavonga, Skretting Zambia. This feed mill is a partnership with Nutreco and was commissioned in June 2017 with a feed capacity of 30 000T.
Lake Victoria, Uganda
Source of the Nile, Jinja (SON)
Located at the Source of the Nile close to Jinja, Uganda on Lake Victoria, the business has a hatchery operation producing fingerlings for own use. Lake Harvest may assist small farmers to sell their fish.
SON harvested 1000 tons in 2017 and projections for 2018 are pegged at 1,200 t/pa of fresh whole round for sale into Kenya, Uganda, DRC and Rwanda. SON employs 103 people.
